Pressure feed
Irregular spraying (spitting) The fluid nozzle is not tighten or is damaged The paint viscosity is too high Starting to run out of paint The paint has not a free passage: check the pump or the pressure feed tank, check the paint pressure regulator, check the filter, check the hoses.
Suction or gravity feed
The paint is spitting out from the spray gun, the flow of paint dust is varying: Not enough paint in the paint cup The paint container is tilted too much The fluid passages are not open The suction pipe is not tighten or is broken The fluid nozzle is not tighten or is damaged Too high paint viscosity The small hole for air in the lid for the paint container is clogged or closed The coupling nut at the paint inlet on the gun is not tight The needle packing is not tight The suction pipe is standing on the bottom of the paint container The surface has a peel orange structure To little atomizing air Wrong distance between the spray gun and the object (200mm is correct) The paint viscosity is too high The paint is sedimented / is not enough blended Wrong type of solvent is used – ask your paint supplier! No or not correct pre-treatment of the surface
Stripes or cloudness in the spray pattern
Wrong distance between the spray gun and the object Varying distance between the spray gun and the object during the painting cycle The air cap is dirty If the spray pattern is divided in the middle: increase the amount of paint or decrease the fan width Not correct overlapping
Different types of incorrect spray pattern:
Narrowing down towards or upwardsThe holes for the atomizing air are clogged Dirt on the upper side of the fluid nozzle Dirt on the seat of the fluid nozzle or air cap
Bended spray pattern to the left or right
The holes for atomizing air on the right or left side are clogged Dirt on the left or right side of the fluid nozzle On fluid nozzle with multi-nozzles the inner holes for atomization are clogged
Spray pattern is extended on the middle
Not enough of air for fan width control Not enough atomizing air Too high paint viscosity Too big fluid nozzle
For pressure feed: the paint pressure is too high
The spray pattern narrow off in the middle No balance between air- and paint pressure Too high air pressure for fan width control Too low paint flow / paint pressure |
